8.12. Perspectives of the Codification of Consumer Statutes: Russian and International Practice

Wednesday, 15 May
10:00 - 11:30

Hall #4, General Staff Building (6-8, Dvortsovaya sq.)

The Government of the Russian Federation has named the improvement of consumer legislation among its highest strategic consumer rights policy priorities for the next few years.

The timeliness and importance of this discussion are dictated, inter alia, by the fact that the ongoing strident changes in the economy, concurrent with the digitization of the consumer market and the arrival of new objects of civil rights (e.g., digital products, smart electronics, Internet of Things, massive accumulations of personal data, and so forth), objectively compel us to rethink both the basic and more specialized standards that form the framework of the fundamental consumer rights.

In this light, there is no doubt that the proposed issue, when included in the Forum’s programme, will garner a great deal of interest on the part of the authoritative legal community, and thus will be discussed in a broad-based format involving world-class experts.
