Conference of the Russian Federal Bar 'The Regulation of Legal Services: External and Internal Aspects'

This year the conference of the Russian Federal Bar will be dedicated to the regulation of legal services, its external and internal aspects. The discussion of the external aspects will touch upon the questions concerned with the concept paper on regulation of the professional legal services’ market published in October, 2017 by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation as a part of the “Justice” program. The discussion of the internal aspects will be mainly focused on the questions of professional ethics.

The foreign speakers invited by the Russian Federal Bar will draw the attention of the audience to the national regulation of legal services.

The President of the German Federal Bar, Dr. Ekkhart Schäfer will address the audience with regards to the topic of lawyers’ monopoly in German law and the use of commercial legal entities for the purposes of legal services.

The President of the the French National Bar Council, Mrs Christiane Feral-Schuhl will describe the process of the legal professionals’ consolidation which took place in France several years ago.

The Deputy Vice – president of The Law Society of England and Wales, Mr Simon Davis will focus on the British legal frameworks of the international lawyers’ activities.

The Chairman of the Bar of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr Anuar Tugel will describe the results of the reform of the legal profession in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The speech of the other learned guests of the Russian Federal Bar will be dedicated to the most interesting topics in the mentioned spheres.

He began his career as an investigator in the prosecutor's office, then worked as a prosecutor of the Office of the Prosecutor's Office of the Kazakh USR, as the head of the Department for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the SIC, was a senior assistant to the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Kazakhstan, consultant to the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Department of the SIC in Almaty region, head of sector of the State Legal Department of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Vice Minister of Justice, Head of the Office of the Majilis (Parliament) of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2005 he was elected as the president of the Union of Advocates of Kazakhstan. In 2012 he was elected as the Chairman of the Bar of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Marie Aimee Peyron

Marie-Aimée PEYRON was born on June 19th 1960 in Algiers.

In 1962, her family joined the metropolitan France where Marie-Aimée PEYRON lived in Paris with her mother.

She maintains a deep attachment for Algeria and keeps from this period the value of the family, of work and of solidarity.

She graduated in 1978 and because of her passion for Russia, she joined the National School of Oriental Languages to study Russian. (Certificate of Language and Oriental Civilizations in Russian).

She then studied law (Master's degree "Judicial Careers" in Assas) and was sworn in as a lawyer on December 20th 1989.

She joined the law firm of Jean-Bernard THOMAS (SCP THOMAS and Associates) within the "Litigation, Business and Social” department. She worked in this law firm from 1989 to 1996, as a collaborator and then as a partner.

Subsequently, she joined the SCP NATAF and FAGENBAUM (from 1996 to 1997) and then joined, in 1998, the law firm founded by Christian HAUSMANN.

Since January 1st 1998, she is a partner in the SELARL HAUSMANN-Cabinet SQUIRE PATTON BOGGS, in charge of the "Litigation-Arbitration" department.

The Paris office of SQUIRE PATTON BOGGS is part of an international network of more than 1300 lawyers in 40 offices present on 5 continents.

At the same time, Marie-Aimée PEYRON is pursuing a career whose path expresses her tireless commitment to the legal profession.

She successively held the office of :

  • Member of the Permanent Commission of the Union of Young Lawyers of Paris (UJA) of which she became President in 1995, then Vice-President of Honor;
  • Vice-President of the Federation of Young Lawyers Union from 1996 to 1999, then Honorary Member;
  • Elected member of the Paris Bar Council in 2002. In this capacity, she was in charge of the Ethics commission and acted as Secretary of the Council of the Order;
  • Elected member of the National Bar Council (CNB) from 2006 to 2008;
  • Elected Vice-President of the CNB from 2009 to 2010;
  • Secretary of the CNB from 2015 to 2017.

She is currently, since January 1st 2018, President of the Bar Association of Paris which gathers nearly 30,000 lawyers.

220th President and third woman elected at the head of the Bar Council.
