The III St. Petersburg International Legal Forum took place from May 15 to May 18.
The Forum was organized in 2011, on behalf of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation under the support of the President of the Russian Federation.
During its lifetime the Forum has proven to be the largest international platform for the highest level discussions between politicians, lawyers, businessmen and scholars — representatives of all major legal specializations and systems. This year over 2,5 thousands of people from 63 countries have attended the event including 21 official delegations headed by Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Justice.
The programme of the III St. Petersburg International Legal Forum comprised the Plenary session titled “Competition and Cooperation between Legal Systems: the Role of Law in Ensuring the Development of Society, the State, and the Economy” and 56 discussion sessions dedicated to the widest range of issues in the domains of law and business, politics and culture. For the first time ever the topics to discuss were organized into tracks based on principal legal specializations
Moreover, a number of treaties and agreements were signed during the III St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. These documents are oriented to the development of legal cooperation between national courts and other judicial institutions of Russia and its partners among which are Belorussia, Switzerland, Sweden, Czech Republic and Cuba.
The various satellite events organized by the Forum’s partners became the part of the programme 2013 such as business breakfast of “Gazprombank”; business lunch of “Pepeliaev Group” on topic: “Antitrust regulation: the challenges of modern times”; cocktail party of “Hogan Lovells” and party W of VEGAS LEX which expanded the opportunities for informal communication of the participants.
